Ladies, you'll make your own arrangements. Trousers with multiple baggy pockets are highly recommenced. In fact if you're as experienced as some people and have the technique of making a few bits and pieces to smuggle out for lunch, it really does become good value if you've saved the cost of your next meal. The most amazing buffet breakfast anywhere I've ever visited didn't disappoint and is getting close to being worth the price. My constant gripe about their outrageous internet pricing needs another mention because it's not been addressed. Check-in was fast, efficient and the lady did a great job trying to up-sell me to the Executive Floor until she mentioned the price. The usual ritual of being welcomed back by the Concierge and telling him I've never been here before still hasn't lost it's appeal. I wanted to stay downtown a couple of nights and the Hilton really is good for what I needed to accomplish.

Definitely recommend for atmosphere and location in Central Nairobi, you won't have to give indications to your taxi and you can walk to eateries, shopping and bars Security in and out of the hotel is excellent, as you have now annoying metal detectors and guards at every business place and building entrance. Traveler's Restaurant (about $20) is ok, but you can walk down the block to Trattoria for good Italian.

Internet is expensive $20 USD daily but adequately fast, I did not test the free wifi 'in public parts of the hotel', OTOH the Hotel rate itself is reasonable if you don't buy all the proposed upgrades. The mattress is excellent but in the 70's of course there was no need for multiple AC outlets for your laptop, tablet, cellphones and digital cameras, so bring your multi-ports charging USB hub. Water is plenty hot, AC good but difficult to adjust and isolation from the street below is soundproof but not from the hallway (doors banging). Bathroom fixtures are functional but with separate hot/cold knobs where a mixer would be more convenient to avoid scalding. give the place lots of character and I would recommend to 'restore' the place instead of remodeling it. Service is excellent (it was in the 70's) and period furniture, carpeting, signage etc.

Here we have a round tower and 'Triumphant Capitalist'. It's Warsaw Pact nemesis would be (in my experience) the Kyyv Hotel in Bratislava in the 'Soviet Brutalist' genre. The Hilton in Nairobi is straight out of the 70's but rather well maintained, so it's almost like a museum piece and you can enjoy a trip back to the Cold war era.
